Parminder Singh Sandhu, the working president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) district youth wing, finds himself embroiled in controversy after being booked for allegedly obtaining and utilizing a counterfeit Class 12 certificate to pursue a law degree.
Sandhu, hailing from Gopal Nagar, Tibba Road, is currently at large as he is yet to be apprehended by authorities. The case against him stems from an investigation that uncovered his purported use of a forged Class 12 certificate to secure admission into an LLB course.
Ironically, Sandhu had previously filed a First Information Report (FIR) against advocate Deepak Prajapati on charges of providing him with a fraudulent license to practice law. However, during the ensuing police probe, it was revealed that the Class 12 certificate presented by Sandhu was counterfeit. Consequently, Sandhu was implicated in the same FIR he had initiated against Prajapati.
The investigation was triggered by a complaint filed by advocate David Gill, who alleged that Sandhu had submitted a fake Class 12 certificate to gain admission into the LLB program. Subsequent inquiries revealed discrepancies in the certificate purportedly issued by the Delhi Board of Senior Secondary Education.
According to police officials, Sandhu claimed to have passed Class 12 from the Punjab School Education Board, Mohali, in 2008, but investigation revealed that he had actually failed the examination that year. Moreover, the Class 12 certificate from the Delhi Board of Senior Secondary Education was also found to be counterfeit.
Sandhu faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including cheating, forgery, and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. Despite his alleged involvement in the forgery case, Sandhu has implicated Prajapati in aiding him to obtain an LLB degree in 2011. Prajapati’s arrest in March prompted further inquiries, leading to the identification of another individual, Palwinder Singh, who remains at large.
Sandhu’s imminent arrest is anticipated as Inspector Jagjit Singh, the investigating officer, affirms his nomination as an accused in the FIR. Sandhu’s purported involvement in this scandal has cast a shadow over his political career, underscoring the importance of integrity and accountability in public service.
