In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained a Sub-Divisional Inspector (SDI) associated with the Indian Post Office, Sub-Division, Maharajganj (U.P.). The arrest follows allegations of the SDI accepting a bribe amounting to Rs. 20,000 from a complainant.
The CBI initiated action based on a complaint accusing the SDI of demanding a bribe of Rs. 40,000 from the complainant in exchange for facilitating detachment from Brijmanganj to Anand Nagar. Acting swiftly, the investigative agency laid a trap and apprehended the accused red-handed while accepting Rs. 20,000 from the complainant as part payment.
Search operations are currently underway at the residential premises of the accused, aimed at uncovering any additional evidence related to the case. The arrested individual is slated to be presented before the Competent Court on 17.04.2024 to face charges of corruption.
The ongoing investigation underscores the steadfast commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat corruption and uphold integrity in public service. This latest crackdown serves as a reminder of the government’s unwavering resolve to ensure transparency and accountability across all sectors.
