“Corruption Crackdown: CBI Arrests CPWD Assistant Engineer for Accepting Bribe in Dehradun”

In a significant development highlighting the ongoing battle against corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended an Assistant Engineer associated with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The arrest comes in connection with allegations of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs. 1,00,000 from a complainant.

The CBI initiated action following a complaint lodged against the Assistant Engineer, who purportedly demanded a hefty sum of Rs. 5.50 lakh to permit uninterrupted construction work on a residential colony situated in Seemadwar, Dehradun. Acting swiftly, the investigative agency orchestrated a sting operation, leading to the Assistant Engineer’s apprehension while receiving a portion of the bribe.

During subsequent searches conducted by the CBI at the accused’s premises, a substantial sum of cash totaling approximately Rs. 20,49,500 was seized from the engineer’s residence. Additionally, authorities unearthed certain incriminating documents pertinent to the case.

The arrested individual is scheduled to appear before the Competent Court to face charges related to corruption. Meanwhile, the investigation remains ongoing, reflecting the unwavering commitment of law enforcement agencies to root out corruption and uphold transparency in governance.

This latest crackdown serves as a stern warning to public officials engaging in unethical practices, reaffirming the government’s resolve to maintain integrity and accountability across all levels of administration.
