Delhi Government Notifies Delhi High Court E-Filing Rules, 2021, Extending to District Courts

The Delhi government has officially notified the E-Filing Rules of the High Court of Delhi 2021, extending their application to all cases of Civil Jurisdiction (including Family Court cases) and Criminal Complaint cases in all the District Courts in Delhi, effective from April 1, 2024.

The notification, issued as a gazette order on March 14, represents a significant step towards digitizing the legal filing process and streamlining judicial proceedings in the capital city.

Under these rules, which amend and consolidate existing regulations and practice directions, online e-filing and e-filing through designated counters will be governed, along with facilities provided for e-filing via e-Sewa Kendras.

This move aims to provide a comprehensive framework for electronic filing processes, enhancing efficiency and accessibility within the judicial system. By embracing digital technology, the Delhi High Court and District Courts seek to modernize operations and facilitate easier access to justice for litigants.

The implementation of these e-filing rules reflects a broader trend towards digital transformation in legal systems worldwide, driven by the need for greater efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.
