Janata Dal(S) leader and Karnataka MLA HD Revanna has been granted conditional bail by a Bengaluru court on Monday, May 13, in connection with a kidnapping case linked to sexual abuse allegations against him and his son, Prajwal.
Revanna’s arrest on May 4 came after a kidnapping case was registered against him at the KR Nagar police station in Bengaluru. Both HD Revanna and his son Prajwal have vehemently denied the allegations, terming them a “political conspiracy” against them.
A Special Investigative Team (SIT), formed by the Karnataka government, is currently probing the alleged sexual abuse case involving HD Revanna and his son Prajwal, who is seeking re-election as the Member of Parliament from the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. The voting for the seat took place on April 26.
In response to the developments, JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy has accused the Karnataka government of orchestrating a biased inquiry, alleging misuse of office. He emphasized the government’s attempt at character assassination against HD Revanna.
On May 9, a delegation from the Janata Dal (Secular) met with Karnataka Governor Tawara Chanda Gehlot, urging him to recommend a CBI probe into the matter. The delegation submitted a memorandum highlighting their concerns and seeking intervention to ensure a fair investigation.
Revanna’s conditional bail marks a significant turn in the case, with the legal proceedings expected to continue as the investigation progresses. The allegations against him and his son have sparked political tensions in Karnataka, underscoring the need for a thorough and impartial inquiry to address the serious accusations.
