Mumbai Police Arrests Hardik Pandya’s Stepbrother for Allegedly Cheating Cricketers of ₹4.3 Crore

Mumbai police have taken Vaibhav Pandya, stepbrother of cricketers Hardik and Krunal Pandya, into custody in connection with a high-profile case involving the alleged misappropriation of funds amounting to approximately ₹4.3 crore.

Article:

In a significant development, Mumbai police have made an arrest in a case involving Vaibhav Pandya, the stepbrother of renowned cricketers Hardik and Krunal Pandya. According to reports from The Times of India, Vaibhav, aged 37, stands accused of cheating his stepbrothers out of approximately ₹4.3 crore in a business partnership gone awry.

The alleged misconduct pertains to the diversion of funds and violation of partnership terms. Three years ago, the trio established a polymer business venture, with the Pandya brothers contributing 40% of the capital each, while Vaibhav was slated to provide 20% and oversee daily operations. Profits were to be distributed accordingly. However, Vaibhav purportedly created another firm within the same trade without disclosing this to his stepbrothers, thereby contravening the terms of their partnership agreement.

This clandestine move allegedly resulted in a decline in profits from the original venture, leading to an estimated loss of ₹3 crore for Hardik and Krunal Pandya. Moreover, it is claimed that Vaibhav increased his own profit share from 20% to 33.3% without the knowledge or consent of his stepbrothers, further exacerbating their financial losses.

The Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai police has charged Vaibhav Pandya with cheating and forgery in connection with these actions.

While the Pandya brothers, known for their cricketing prowess, have not issued any public statements regarding this matter, they are currently engrossed in their Indian Premier League (IPL) commitments. Hardik Pandya leads the Mumbai Indians, while Krunal has been delivering commendable performances for the Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing 2024 IPL season.

Hardik Pandya faced adversity in recent months as he recuperated from an ankle injury sustained during the 2023 World Cup. Additionally, his captaincy tenure with the Mumbai Indians began on a challenging note, encountering opposition from the franchise’s fanbase. Despite initial setbacks, MI secured their first victory in the IPL season by defeating the Delhi Capitals.
