Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a personal appearance at a Special Court in Bengaluru on Friday to address a case filed against him by the BJP’s Karnataka unit. The case pertains to allegedly “defamatory” advertisements published in mainstream newspapers ahead of the Assembly polls last year.
The advertisements, which Rahul Gandhi is accused of issuing, targeted the then BJP government in the state, accusing it of engaging in significant corruption during its tenure from 2019 to 2023.
Earlier, on June 1, the Court granted bail to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who also serves as the State Congress Chief, after they appeared before the Court in connection with the same defamation case.
The proceedings in the case continue, with Rahul Gandhi’s appearance marking a significant development.
