Delhi Court Grants RK Arora 6 More Weeks to Seek Treatment
RK Arora, chairman of Supertech Ltd., received a six-week extension on his interim bail from Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Saturday, March 16th, 2024. Arora was initially granted interim bail on medical grounds on January 16th, 2024, and this extension allows him to continue seeking treatment for various health issues.
Medical Records Cited in Bail Extension
Arora’s lawyers presented medical records from Fortis Hospital in Noida, which indicated he suffers from “Systemic Hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease, and unstable angina.” While the Enforcement Directorate (ED) argued the surgery was elective, the court disagreed, stating it needed to consider the “nature of illness and medical prescription” at the time of the bail decision.
ED Chargesheet and Allegations
The ED filed a money laundering case against Arora in connection with alleged financial irregularities at Supertech Ltd. The chargesheet details accusations of cheating over 670 homebuyers out of ₹164 crore and diverting collected funds to other group companies. The ED alleges these actions constitute “scheduled offences” under money laundering laws.
Legal Proceedings Ongoing
Although granted an extension on his interim bail, Arora’s case remains ongoing. The court rejected arguments by the ED that Arora was misusing the medical bail system, and he will likely face trial in the future.
